12 TRAVEL HACKS YOU WANT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU FLY AGAIN

I especially love the money hiding tube, and will use it for my upcoming trip.  The twist tie is a great idea for carryon luggage, but if it's checked in luggage, TSA will cut it.  I personally use the universal padlock that TSA can open and relock.  Thanks.

The paper sheet between a T-shirt is a nice one. But the last one with the zip tie won't work at all. Thieves will search for such bags and easily open the zippers. I've explained this in a blog: www.thailand-travelbase.com/2018/01/24/stealing-from-your-luggage-and-what-you-can-do-about-it

I saw on another video that eye/sunglass cases (the 'spring loaded' ones) also work for headphones & USB charging cords.  When flying, we wait with our 'liquid' bathroom stuff (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc) until we get where we're going then find a target, walgreens or store of that type & get it there, that way we can get the big bottles that we can all use so it'll be empty by time we leave & we just toss it when we pack to go home.  For clothes... Pack your 'going home clothes' (including underwear) in a gallon size ziplock bag, mark it 'going home' then put it in a separate part of your luggage.  Do this for everyone in your group so that the last day when your packing to go home, you have something clean to wear.

Oh & use ziplock bags for EVERYTHING...  Even stuff you don't need them for, that way you have extra bags for packing to come home.   Going to be taking swimwear?  Get a cheap insulated grocery shopping bag with a zipper, these work great for wet/damp swimsuits then when you get ready to go home, it will double as your 'dirty laundry bag' keeping other stuff in your luggage from stinking.  Now if ALL your clothes are going to need to be washed when you get home, use your dirty clothes to wrap any souveiners that  you don't want broken.  Bringing home wine?  Put each bottle in a plastic bag then wrap with a shirt & tuck them in the leg of a riding boot.  One boot in each bottom corner of your suitcase (toes pointing in obviously), we've never had a broken bottle yet.

You do understand that clothing doesn't somehow magically get smaller when it's rolled, right? The fabric takes up the same exact physical space no matter how you fold or roll it. The only difference is compression. Flat folded t-shirts under a pair of jeans compress to the same thickness as rolled ones.

Incomplete. Who travels only with T-shirts. It gets a diffirent ball game when you have to travel for work, looking professional, adding a three piece walking stick, snacks and food, stationary and documentations, chronic and non - chronic medicine, out of power torch, older heavy laptop, somethings to exersice with, cabin laguage messurements, , then it get complicated.

The towel seems like it took up more space than just tossing those items in a ziplock.

They said nothing about time... it just takes up space. What is the point of it anyways? I cannot see a situation in which it would be helpful...

That locking method isn't going to be enough. You need to secure the lock to a handle on the suitcase, so the zips can't be moved. Also, the TSA bag needs to be taken out at the airport, unless you're checking the bag.

TSA has to be able to open those locks so zip ties won't work. Use only TSA approved locks. They can open them and will relock them.

Your use of zip ties won't work. You have to zip tie AND immobilize the zips... to the HANDLE! Also you use plastic wrap to prevent a bottle from leaking? You need to reduce the volume of product in the container, then squeeze some of the air out, THEN cap it and place it in a plastic zipper bag. Place each liquid in a separate zipper bag. Not as messy if one leaks. Rolling clothing is fine but carry one reinforced medium-size compression zipper bag(the type you roll the air out of) to place dirty clothing in until they can be washed. Keeps the suitcase clean and odor-free. I use cheap clear shower caps to cover shoes, also place socks and underwear in the shoes, saves space.
